Malachite. Malachite is a Copper Carbonate Hydroxide and it is a semiprecious stone. The origin of the name goes to the ancient Greek word “malakos” or “soft.” The color varies from light green to deep green and very rarely to greenish black. Several shades may appear in the pattern of a single stone.

In ancient Egypt, malachite was a symbol of the beginning and continuation of life. This is why the gem has been considered a guard-amulet since ancient times. It is a protector of children and childhood, it relieves nightmares, and it helps aid relaxation.
